Data Transfer Time Calculator
Estimate download or upload time from file size and connection speed. Compare decimal and binary units and allow for network overhead.

Estimate an upload or download
File sizes are measured in bytes, while connection speeds are usually measured in bits per second. One byte is eight bits. GB and MB use decimal units; GiB and MiB use powers of 1024. At 100 Mbps, 1 GB needs at least 80 seconds before overhead.
Effective throughput accounts for protocol overhead and other limitations. A value of 90% is an assumption you can change. This is an estimate, not a speed test; Wi-Fi, congestion and the remote server can increase transfer time.
